There will not be a May 2018 presentation by the Albuquerque Historical Society. Instead, enjoy the Downtown Neighborhood Association biennial Mother’s Day Historic Home Tour, “Living landmarks, A Taste of Albuquerque”, Sunday, May 13, 2018, 11:00am – 3:00pm.
The Downtown Neighborhoods (west of downtown between Central and Mountain Rd) is comprised of several distinct neighborhoods. This year’s tour will feature homes in the 4th Ward Historic District and Watson Addition. The Historic Overlay Zones were designated by the city to protect areas of historical, architectural, or cultural significance. Many of the houses in these neighborhoods are also on the Register of National and State Historical Places. The Downtown Neighborhoods feature houses that reflect the diverse materials and architectural styles that sprang up as Albuquerque expanded from Old Town to New Town with the railroad and all of its influences.
Tickets are $18.00 advance purchase from the Downtown Neighborhood Association website or $20.00 day of tour tickets at Lew Wallace Elementary. For more information or to purchase tickets, see the Downtown Neighborhoods Association (DNA) website.
For additional information on some of the historic homes themselves, see the pdf “Historic Houses in the DNA“, published by the Downtown Neighborhood Association with the support of a Bernalillo County Neighborhood Outreach Grant. Another good source is the City of Albuquerque’s pdf  “PLAZA to PLAZA – A Walking Tour Downtown to Old Town“.
