Deborah C. Slaney is recognized by the Albuquerque Historical Society for an Albuquerque History Accolade for her outstanding service as Curator of History with the Albuquerque Museum as well as her lifelong contributions to the research and better understanding of Albuquerque history. In addition to curating numerous museum exhibits, Deb directed the redevelopment of the museum’s main history hall through which she has promoted the study of history with guided tours, especially for school children (Magic Bus), and public lectures.
Deb has also found the time to write several books, including Wonders of the Weavers, Jewel of the Railroad Era: Albuquerque’s Alvarado Hotel, and Albuquerque Museum History Collection: Only in Albuquerque, as well as editing and facilitating publication of numerous other works of local historical interest. Through her tireless efforts, Deb has brought a passion for Albuquerque history that has enlightened a countless number of residents and visitors alike.
